Vidimus

Blockchain Document Notary

Vidimus anchors a document's fingerprint on several blockchains, so its existence, integrity, and timestamp can be checked independently.

A document's notarization detail in Vidimus

Notarize and keep track

vi·di·mus /ˈvɪdɪməs/ noun

From Latin vīdimus, “we have seen.” A certified copy of a document, attested by an officer who has examined the original.

The attestation confirms that the document was seen, and that the copy matches it. Not that what it says is true.

Vidimus does the same, with a blockchain in place of the officer. Notarizing records a version's SHA-256 fingerprint on chain, with the time it was anchored.

Everything you've notarized is listed with its chains and its storage. Open a document for the full history: every version, its hash, each chain's record, and the signatures collected.

Vidimus documents list

Private by construction

A notarized document is not a published one. The record on chain is only a hash: the proof is public, the document is not.

  • Your device's own protection. Vidimus unlocks with whatever your device already uses — a fingerprint, a face scan, a passcode. It never sees the biometric itself.
  • Encrypted before it leaves. Files can be encrypted on your device, so the storage provider holds ciphertext it cannot read.
  • Signed per version. Each version is a new fingerprint, so it collects its own signatures rather than inheriting the last one's.

None of this asks you to trust Vidimus. The record is public: anyone holding the file can hash it and check any block explorer, with or without this app.

About Vidimus

For your organization

Vidimus is a Consensix Labs project, and its notarization can fit how your organization already works.

That might mean anchoring on public networks or a permissioned chain you run, choosing where documents live and who signs them, or notarizing straight from the systems you already use. Where an audit sets the requirements, retention, signing rules, and branding follow.

If any of that sounds like a problem you have, get in touch.
